Influencer marketing in Saudi Arabia
An influencer campaign puts your product in front of an established audience through someone that audience already follows. This guide covers how to choose influencers, how fees are structured, what to put in writing and how to judge the result.
The short answer
Choose influencers on audience fit and past work, agree fees against specific deliverables, write down usage rights and exclusivity before content is made, and measure with numbers whose source you know. An influencer campaign platform should make each of those steps visible and recorded.
Influencer or creator?
The two words overlap. Influencer usually points to reach and recognition, creator to the craft of making content. In practice brands in Saudi Arabia use both, and the work is the same: a person with an audience makes content for your brand. This site uses both terms, and the same workspace covers either.
Choosing influencers
Audience size is a starting filter, not a decision. Tiers such as macro and micro describe size, and each trades reach for closeness: larger audiences reach more people, while smaller ones are often closer to their followers.
- Audience fit: who actually follows them, and in which city and language.
- Content fit: whether the style suits your product and your tone.
- Consistency: a record of work for similar products.
- Availability and working style: response time and how they handle revisions.
- Conflicts: competing brands they promote, and exclusivity you may need.
How fees are structured
There is no universal rate card, and any list of prices without context deserves caution. These are the structures you will meet most often.
- A flat fee per deliverable, such as a video or a set of stories.
- A package fee for a campaign with several deliverables.
- Product gifting, alone or combined with a fee.
- Performance elements, such as a code or tracked link, agreed in advance.
Whatever the structure, agree what the fee covers: the number of deliverables, revisions, usage rights, exclusivity and how long the content stays up.
What to put in writing
- Deliverables, platforms and dates.
- Compensation, and how and when it is paid.
- Usage rights: where, for how long, and whether paid amplification is allowed.
- Exclusivity: categories, competitors and period.
- Disclosure requirements, mandatory messages and prohibited claims.
- Revision limit and approval steps.
- Cancellation terms.
On MOWJ, offers are versioned, an accepted offer becomes an immutable agreement record, and either party can upload the document they signed separately. The in-platform record is not an electronic signature.
Red flags
- Audience numbers with no source or date.
- No past work to show for comparable products.
- Reluctance to agree deliverables or dates in writing.
- Reluctance to record a payment with a reference.
- Unclear identification of sponsored content.
How to judge the result
Decide the objective first. Awareness, engagement, traffic, leads and sales each call for different measures: views, reach and impressions for awareness, clicks and conversions for traffic and sales. For each number, note whether it was reported by the influencer, reported by your team, tracked through a link or code, or taken from a platform report.
A derived measure such as cost per click is only meaningful when both of its inputs are known. MOWJ shows derived measures only when the inputs exist.
Questions, answered plainly
What is an influencer marketing platform?
Software that helps a brand run influencer campaigns: discovery, briefing, negotiation, content approval and measurement. MOWJ also keeps a record of agreements, payment status and the source of every number.
Is influencer marketing different from creator marketing?
The terms overlap. Both mean working with people who have audiences to create content for your brand. Our guide to creator marketing in Saudi Arabia describes the wider process.
How much should I pay an influencer?
It depends on the deliverables, usage rights, exclusivity, audience and timing. Ask for a fee against a specific scope and compare more than one creator. MOWJ shows an indicative rate only where the creator chooses to share it.
Can I verify an influencer's follower count?
At launch, MOWJ shows creator-reported audience numbers with their date. There is no automatic connection to social platforms, so ask creators for supporting reports where it matters to your decision.
Do I need to worry about disclosure?
Sponsored content should be clearly identified as such. The applicable rules can change, so check current requirements with the relevant authority and your counsel.
